Moving sucks.
So, we’ve moved now for what seems to be the third time in two years, and this is all becoming a little tedious now. Granted, we live in the best place in the world, and hopefully we can now stay settled in one place for more than half a year, but the sheer amount of admin work involved just boggles the mind.
Changing postal boxes is just one of these niggly things: Getting your addresses changed. Boxing and packing. Finding out what is available close to you in terms of shopping and entertainment. Finding the best access routes for travelling to work. Getting the cats accustomed. Unpacking. The initial big-ass shopping trip to re-stock groceries. All the small trips to buy the little things that are missing or forgotten. No internet connectivity while waiting for Telkom to install new lines — up to a month, apparently! Getting the car steam-cleaned after one of the cats got a little scared/carsick and just went, right there! Sorting out keys and parking and garages.
I’m guessing there’s no easy way to move in any event. It must rank up high there with things like death and getting married, on the stress scale.
